One of the true pleasures of winter is skating in the crisp air of the prairie evening. That is why it is always a thrill when the five Swift Current outdoor ice facilities open. Generally the outdoor rinks start operation in December and run until mid-February, weather permitting. The outdoor rink facilities include:
The regular hours of use incorporate times for recreational hockey and public skating. There is no charge for rink usage during regular supervised hours.
The Outdoor rinks are also available for rental outside of these times. Rentals cost $27.00 an hour and can be made by calling the Recreation and Parks office at 778-2787.
Southside Rink
This outdoor rink is located at 267 3rd Avenue SE. The dimensions of this rink are 183 feet by 81 feet. During the summer and fall of 2001, this rink received an asphalt base and new boards, making it a first class outdoor rink facility. Washrooms and an indoor heated rest area are located on the premises.

North Hill Rink
Located in A.C.T. Community Park at 700 4th Avenue NE, this rink’s dimensions are 184 feet by 80 feet. As always, washrooms and an indoor heated rest area are located on the premises.

Rotary Rink
On the corner of 3rd Avenue NW and Herbert Street W is where residents and visitors will find Rotary Rink. This 181 foot by 82 foot rink features washroom and indoor heated rest area, similar to those found at all outdoor rinks.

Highland Rink
This outdoor rink is located in Highland Park at 510 Maxwell Drive. The dimensions of this asphalt-based rink are 179 feet by 83 feet; washrooms and an indoor heated rest area are located on the premises.

Riverdene Outdoor Rink
This outdoor rink is located in Riverdene Park at 1130 North Hill Drive. The dimensions of the facility are 183 feet by 81 feet; washrooms and an indoor heated rest area are located on the premises.

All locations have 2 ice surfaces; one large (enclosed) surface and one smaller (open) surface. When Public Skating is scheduled for the large surface, Hockey will take place on the smaller surface and vice versa.
