The Director of Human Resources develops plans and carries out policies related to all phases of human resource activities for the City of Swift Current. This includes recruitment, employment compensation, training, benefits administration, labour relations and employee database administration. This position is also responsible for the Employee and Family Assistance Program and the Employee Recognition Program.
The Director of Human Resources assists management and employees in the interpretation and administration of the collective bargaining agreements, and approved human resource policies.
The City has 126 permanent full time and part time employees, with this number increasing significantly with summer seasonal staff. This includes management, out-of-scope staff and staff represented by three union locals, namely: Canadian Union of Public Employees - CUPE Local 183: International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers - IBEW Local 2067; and International Association of Fire Fighters - IAFF Local 1318.
